Chris Mullin
Chris Mullin is a journalist, author and former politician. He learned his trade as a journalist with the Daily Mirror, and travelled widely in Asia, notably Southeast Asia, where he became a prominent critic of American actions in the Vietnam War. Later, he edited the Tribune newspaper, and led a campaign that resulted in the release of the Birmingham Six. He has published four novels, the best known being A Very British Coup, published in 1982, a prescient story that portrays establishment forces destabilising a left-wing British government.
He served as the MP for Sunderland South from 1987 up to 2010. In Parliament, he served as Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee and as a Minister in the Department for Environment, Transport and the Regions, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development.
